Embroidered, upcycled vintage jacket, The Lighthouse is the flag ship product of Desastre design and the first jacket to be sold as a limited release drop. The design is also the inspiration for the brand itself. I originally found the underlying vintage jacket in a thrift store and had a moment of creative inspiration to customize each 'frame' with a different disaster scene or pop cultural reference.
By the time I was halfway through, I knew I needed to try to make a retail version. When I moved down to Mexico City, the pieces fell into place. I found more of the same base vintage jacket, found embroidery and tailoring partners, and got to work digitizing my original drawings. Thus was born The Lighthouse.
I've spent hours meticulously planning and strategizing over each jacket, and no two jackets have the same combination and placement of embroideries, making each one truly unique.
65/35 cotton polyester blend with a jacquard weave, added embroidery design, custom metal shank buttons, and a cotton polyester poplin blend for the lining in the sleeves. Fairly easy to take care of, the jacket is machine washable on delicate cold settings and air dry. Dry cleaning couldn't hurt if you want to be extra careful with the jacket.
Because this is vintage, the sizing is best suited for women (as it is originally a Woman's jacket). However, some sizes are amenable to being unisex, especially medium and large. Sizing can be found in the sizing chart above.
